Rev. Fr. Francis Bomansaan, M.Afr., has been appointed as the new Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wa in the Upper West Region of Ghana, by his Holiness, Pope Francis.
The appointment was announced Wednesday 22nd May 2024 in Rome and simultaneously at the Apostolic Nunciature, Ghana and at the National Catholic Secretariat (NCS), Accra, by the Secretary General of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’Conference ( GCBC), Very Rev. Fr. Clement Kwasi Adjei, at the Pope St John Paul II Conference Hall, NCS, Accra.
Rev. Fr. Francis Bomansaan was born on 19th January 1962. He took his Final Oath into the Society of Missionaries of Africa ( White Fathers) in 1990. He was Ordained into the Priesthood on 27th July 1991. From 2022 until his appointment as Bishop of Wa Catholic Diocese, he was the Superior General, Generalate, Missionaries of Africa, Rome, Italy.
