THE DEPARTMENT OF PASTORAL MINISTRY AND EVANGELISATION
The Pastoral Ministry and Evangelisation has the following units:
- Clergy and Religious
- Religious Education
- Laity
- Seminaries, Vocations and Chaplaincies
- And commissions:
- Inter-religious Dialogue
- Ecumenical Relations
- Juridical Matters
- Biblical Apostolate
- Liturgical, Sacred and Art
- Doctrine of Faith
- Catechetical Commission
The duties of the Executive Secretary include among others:
a. To develop a four-year strategic plan for the Department
b. To generate an annual Programme of Work (POW) from the Strategic Plan showing outputs for the Department;
c. To generate a commensurate budget each year for the Department.
d. To generate proposals to seek funding for strategic Plan
e. To report to the GCBC on programme of work once a year(May) or as may be required.
f. To promote and coordinate the activities, human and spiritual interests of clergy and religious; & To obtain policy directions and activities from Conferences of Men and Women Religious
h. To coordinate the activities of NUGDPA, CEHUD and align them with International Assembly of Priests Representatives:
i. To research and make publications on aspect of Pastoral Ministry.
j. To promote Ecumenical Relations and Inter-Religious Dialogue
k. To oversee and enhance the juridical functions including publications,
1. To promote Laity and Youth and foster evangelization
m. To promote Biblical Apostolate
n. To cooperate with the National Director of Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in the area of missionary animation of priests, religious and seminaries.
o. To monitor and evaluate the outputs of the Department.
p. To carry out other duties to be assigned from time to time by the Secretary General or any other person acting through him.
